Au – Gold
| Fool’s Gold |
Au, also
known as pure gold and like most elements, has an electron configuration. Gold,
in its purest form is a bright, yellow, dense, soft and ductile metal. This
picture shows a ring made out of gold in its purest form. In addition, gold is
a transition metal and is located on group 11 element. It is one of the least
reactive chemical elements, and is solid under standard conditions.
Au Gold: [Xe] 4f14 5d10 6s1
This is
the electron configuration that Au also known as Gold, has. Following the SPDF
rule, along with the noble gas configuration, it is a easier route to complete.
Xe, valued at 54, can provide a much needed shortcut to the process.
Fun Fact: It
is also known as the noblest of the noble metals
Fun Fact: Gold's atomic number of 79 makes it one of the higher atomic number elements that occur naturally in the universe, and is
traditionally thought to have been produced in supernova nucleosynthesis dust from which
the Solar System formed.
